Purgatory at Durango Mountain Resort
“If ever a mountain was created for families, it’s Purgatory.” – Ski Magazine
With the new Purgatory Lodge nearing completion, families will soon find a new daylodge, upscale slopeside lodging and a revamped base area with fire pits, hang out spots, and plenty of regular events like music, cookouts, and parties.
The Resorts plans include:
· Chairlift upgrades with Chair 8 becoming a high speed quad.
· New trails including tree skiing, additional ski terrain and new access routes on the Backside.
· Expanded snowmaking capabilities to build a better base and fill gaps between current snowmaking trails.
· Upgraded parking and restroom facilities
· New facilities and parking with access to additional Boyce Lake trails for Nordic Skiers.
· Summer upgrades include:
- New single track mountain bike trails at the resort and improvements to the World’s course.
- Improved Purgatory Flats facilities for hikers, including adaptive trails.
- Dedicated Equestrian Center for Buck’s Livery for Summer and Winter use.
At the Resort’s core is the new Purgatory Lodge, a structure of native river rock and heavy pine beams that will house skier services, Purgy’s restaurant and bar, a day spa, and 111 ski-in/ski-out condos. Combined with several new housing developments near the ski area entrance, including condominiums, fractional ownerships, home sites and cabins, Durango Mountain Resort will offer a true slopeside community for buyers seeking a family-friendly experience on and off the mountain.
